Patriotism strikes again!

A second card using my freebie papers from Craftwork Cards.

This time I used the spotty paper for the background and cut out a smaller union jack flag from one of the papers. I then backed it on some dark blue glitter card (this is a card for a man so needed to tone down the pink with some manly, allbeit sparkly, blue!).

I then used the same glitter card, along with a ribbon and light and dark blue card candies to make some bunting along the top of the card.

Added a birthday sentiment and another candi at the bottom.

Patriotic card number 1

Everyone seems to have Royal Wedding fever today so here is the first of two cards I've made that seemed rather appropriate...

The union jack backing paper came in a kit Craftwork Cards were giving away with every order to celebrate the wedding.

I then used a pale blue pearlescent scalloped circle and put pale and dark pink candies around the scalloped edge. Then put a smaller scalloped circle in pink in the centre and added a gold foiled happy birthday sentiment.

Quite a simple card really!

DCM profession challenge

The challenge at 'Daring Cardmakers' this week is 'speaking professionally' - to make a card relating to a certain job.

I thought long and hard to come up with a job that was a bit different so its a little bit random.

I have made a card for...... a BEEKEPER!

I used a shaped card blank from 'Craftwork Cards'.  Cut a square in a shimmery gold paper and stuck it in the middle.  I then took another square of yellow paper.  I then put it through an embossing folder which I had inked up with black ink using a brayer.  This gave the sort of honeycomb effect on the background.

I then stuck a strip of ribbon down the side of the card and candies along the top and bottom edges.  I put black doodle dewdrops on the shaped points on the right side of the card.

The main beehive image is from Squigglefly.  I then used some bee stamps from dovercraft and stamped onto shrink plastic to make the teeny tiny little plastic bees.  Both the beehive image and the bees I coloured with promarkers.

A flutter of butterflies

My friend **Lorna** said she would like a butterfly shaped card so I have made her a pack of 5.  (Hope she likes them!?)

I made these using the Butterfly shaped card template from The Cutting Cafe.

The main card shape I have cut on thick kraft card but included a white insert so that she can easily add her own messages inside.

For the largest butterfly on this card I used a white and pink polka dot paper from Polka Doodles A double sprinkle of Kraft CD.  I then sprayed this with Crafters Companion's spray and sparkle.  I added small pink flat back gems around the outside of the largest butterly and on the ends of the antennae.

The smallest butterfly I embossed and then sanded to remove the colour from the embossed dots.

I added some pink flat back pearls for the body (is that what it's called?!).

On this card I added silver glitter around the outside of the largest butterfly, the middle one is the same polka doodles paper as above but without the spray and sparkle.  I have added a purple outline around the middle butterfly using a Crayola metallic marker.  The smallest one I used purple flat back gems around the outside and antennae and pearls down the middle.

For this one I added just a few pink and gold gems on the largest butterfly, embossed the middle one and put gold glitter around the edge and middle of the smallest butterfly.

For this one I used the same Polka Doodles paper for the largest and smallest butterflies and gold glitter around the edges of both.  Larger flat back gems down the 'body' and the middle sized butterfly has been embossed.

For this card I used silver peel offs around the edge of the largest butterfly.  Embossed the smallest and added some ribbons and a bow on the 'body'.

Up, up and away

I made this card for some friends who are moving away.  The hot air balloon is from The Cutting Cafe - the Hot Air Balloon Template .  The 'bon voyage' comes with the template.

I distressed the card (shaped card from Craftwork Cards) with 'Vintage Photo' distress ink and also used this on the brown circle behind the sentiment.  Added the yellow square which I embossed as a background and a few flowers and brads to decorate.

Brown and aqua

This card is very similar to the one I posted previously with pink embellishments.  I actually made this one first but wasn't too sure about the colours I used to shade the sky so re did it and came up with the one with the pink embellishments which I much prefer.

However, when I saw Crafter's Companion's challenge for April is to use brown and aqua I wanted to enter this card so here it is:

The scene has been created using Polka Doodles 'Be Neighbourly' stamps and the sentiment is also one of their stamps - two actually, the scalloped circle and then the sentiment itself.

I have coloured the scene with promarkers and added accents with a white pen.  I used flowers, doodle dewdrops and pins to embellish.

First attempts with The Cutting Cafe templates

Since finding out this morning that I'm going to be a part of The Cutting Cafe's design team I couldn't wait to start trying out their files.

I'm not technically on the design team until 1st May but I couldn't wait til then so thought would show you what I did with a couple of Regina's fantastic templates.

First of all I made a jelly bean goody bag holder:

The paper is also an image from the Cutting Cafe as well as the template, the Jelly Bean Background set.
I covered the cut outs with acetate that I died with alcohol inks but you can't see that very well in the photos!
I added a ribbon handle, some flowers and a bow. I bought some jelly beans but forgot to get suitable clear bags to go inside so need to search some out!!

Next I HAD to make a card with the rain boots shaped card template, after all I am CraftyBOOTS!! I love this card and am definitely going to be using this template again!!

I cut it out in pink pearlescent card and then used the spotty backing paper from Polka Doodles 'A double Sprinkle of Kraft' CD and a sentiment from the same CD. I cut the sole of the boots from the same pearlescent card and added ribbon and a bow to the top of each boot and some flat backed gems on the front.  The little flowers come with the rain boots template and I added a pink doodle dewdrop in the centre.

I am entering this card into 'My Mum's Craft Shop' anything goes challenge.

I'm looking forward to doing lots more with The Cutting Cafe's files.  Next stop is some digital stamps of some cute little girls, Elisha Jean and friends.

Exciting news!!

More good news was waiting for me when I woke up this morning!!

I am going to be joining the Design Team at The Cutting Cafe. (http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/)

The Cutting Cafe sells printable stamps and cutting files.

I'm looking forward to getting started with their products, hopefully be able to post something for you to see later.

Have a good weekend everyone!! xxx

Looking in

This card didn't quite turn out how I had wanted it to I wanted it to look like you were looking into the room but need a few more layers I think.
The images are all from Polka Doodles Wonderland stamp including the chequerboard background behind Alice.
I coloured Alice, the bottles and keys with promarkers and embossed the text.

Wedding cake

I wasn't sure I had any suitable stamps to create a wedding card (I reluctantly put the Wonderland stamps down!) so took to my CDs to find something.
The template for this cake is from Polka Doodles' Paper Boutique 1 CD.
A bit more simple than my recent cards but sometimes less is more.
