Scrapbookerry ~ a review

Well... When I was asked to review a product for Scrapbookerry I was intrigued at what I would receive as there are a variety of products on the site and all of them are a little out of my comfort zone if I'm honest!

This is what I received:

The item I received was a 6.5" squash book:

Having a squash book is like having your own personalised treasure chest scrapbook. It's perfect for keeping little sentimental notes or photographs safe and organised.
The albums come in the size 6.5"x 6.5", making them perfect for carrying around to look at yourself or show off to others. All Squash Books have 30 sides, front and back.

At first I wasn't sure what I would do with it.  I have done a little bit of scrapbooking recently which gave me a few ideas but couldn't think of a suitable occassion/person I could make this for to do it justice.  Then I remembered that my Dad's birthday was coming up and I thought it would be perfect.  I was not sure what to do for my Dad's birthday card as he didn't seem to pay much attention to the Father's Day card I put a lot of hard work into so decided if I made him this he would definitely keep and appreciate it.

He LOVED it when I gave it to him for his birthday on Friday AND even managed to get it standing up like a card and put it on display with all his other cards.

I got lots of photos of our family, although the quality of some of them was not great and along with other embellishments decorated the squash book:

On the front cover I used some foam letter stickers to spell 'Dad' and some birthday embellishments that I found in a kit including these little star brads.

On the back I printed this sentiment from a Polka Doodles CD (I think Sundae of Seasons) onto Safmat - I love how you can still see the spotty background through it.

On one side I mainly added photos of me and my Dad, my Mum and Dad and a photo of our whole family.

I thought the heart embellishment was appropriate next to a photo of my parents together and some 'Happy Birthday' peel offs.

I then added a photo of me and my Dad which was taken exactly 8 years ago on his birthday and a gold Happy Birthday sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

Next I used a photo of our whole family which was taken at a party a few years ago.  I added a diamante corner flourish around one corner of the photo and then silver glittered letters spelling 'Baker' (our family name) and 2 stars underneath.

On the rest of that page I added a 'Family' embellishment on acetate that came in a kit with two small brads which happened to match the red paper, a scalloped circle to which I added pearls on the scallops and a pearl heart in the centre, two small sentiments saying 'Birthday Boy' and 'Smile', and finally another photo of me.

On the last three squares I used diamante stickers to spell 'Dad' and '29 July' (his birthday) and finished the last square with a photo of my Dad and I together.

On the other side I added photos of me, my brother and sister.  I had to go through Facebook to find photos and noticed that all three of us had quite a few fancy dress photos and they were so funny I had to use some of them.  I also added a photo of my dog too haha!!

On the red square I put a photo of my brother dressed as the Incredible Hulk with a peel off border, felt stickers spelling 'Dad' and a sentiment saying 'You're the best'.

I had a photo of my dog posing on the playbus ride outside a supermarket (he's hilarious!), a piece of board that says 'family' that I got in a set of dipsticks, and finally two photos of my sister dressed as a ladybird and.... the Incredible Hulk again!

I then added another nice photo of my sister and another family sentiment.  I put peel offs round the border of the photo.

On my fancy dress page is a photo of me dressed as a police woman and another where my hair was died red and crazily backcombed - I think I was a witch but it was certainly scary!!  On the other side is a photo of my brother playing rugby and a sentiment saying 'Celebrate Life'.

Finally another dipstick about family.

I was really pleased with how this turned out and so was my Dad.  I was slightly concerned about how my embellishments like the dipsticks and brads and diamantes would affect the squashbook and if I would still be able to close it or if it would look odd but it was all fine.
I honestly think these squashbooks are fantastic and could be suitable for almost any occassion.  I used this as something a bit different in substitute of a birthday card but it could just as easily be used as a proper scrapbook marking occassions/events.

Just to prove to you that I did genuinely love this product since receiving this one I have already bought another from Scrapbookerry's website AND placed an order for a third, bespoke squashbook that is going to be used to mark a special occassion.

I also think the explosion books on Scrapbookerry's website look fantastic and will almost certainly be buying one of those at somepoint too!!

Please if you like the look of these squashbooks (and everyone I have shown has thought it's fantastic) please check out Scrapbookerry's website at www.scrapbookerry.co.uk or use the contact page on that website to make an enquiry for a bespoke squashbook or other item of your own.

More Polka Doodles ~ Love & Cherish

Another Polka Doodles card today! My brother got me 3 Polka Doodles CDs for my birthday and this is from one of them ~ Love and Cherish. I love this CD there are so many gorgeous images on it and love this heart.

I cut the middle of the heart and added gold leaf. I then added some tiny gold Martha Stewart to the circles round the edge of the heart.

I then stuck the image onto some gold holographic card and added letter stickers and 2 gold heart embellishments.

This is a card I made for my Mum to give my Dad for his birthday yesterday and he loved it! I will have another post tomorrow with what I gave him for his birthday which will include a review of a fantastic product from Scrapbookerry.

Thanks for stopping by!

More Polka Doodles girlies!

As promised - more Polka Doodles girls!  These ones are from the Sugar Birdies CDs.

I coloured all of them with Promarkers.  The first card above has papers and sentiments from Craftwork Cards fruit scoop collection and a paper flower with a gem in the centre.

I made this Thankyou card for one of my crafty birthday gifts (awesome goodies - a Anna Griffin craft bag and sugar crafting DVD, templates and book!!)

The papers and sentiment used are from Craftwork Cards and I used some small gem stickers on the edges of the card and also the flowers on the paper.

I then used the same girl as the Thankyou card and a similar layout and stickers to make a set of 2 little cards.

I can't get enough of these cute girls!  I have a few more that I coloured while I was on holiday that are waiting to be used yet!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Double sprinkles

I love this little girl.  I know I say I love all the images I use... I do I only use images I love but I am a big fan of Polka Doodles CDs and I think so far the Double Sprinkles CD is my favourite because all the girly images on there are right up my street!!

I coloured this girl with Promarkers and added a peel off border around her.  I then backed her on paper from the Craftwork Cards fruit scoop collection and also added ribbon and flat back pearls in the same purpley colour!

Hope you like it! :)

I have a few more cards using different girls from Polka Doodles CDs coming up over the next few days so don't forget to check back soon!

Ruby J holding a balloon

Here is my share from The Cutting Cafe this week.  I have used Ruby J from the Elisha Jean and friends holding a balloon printable stamp set.

I have coloured Ruby J with Promarkers and used glossy accents on her balloon.

I added three ribbons, some metal flowers, a glass butterfly and some card candi to embellish the card.  I couldn't help but use these summery colours as we had quite a nice day here today - no doubt the rain will be back soon!
Hope you all had a good weekend, thanks for stopping by.

ECP Challenges - Summer

Hello!!

Sorry there haven't been any posts for a few days I was away on a course and didn't have time to sort any posts out before I went.

The challenge over at ECP challenges this fortnight is Summer.  I have done quite a few summery cards recently but made a set of these cute little Thankyou cards.

The mermaid image is from the Poodles Digi Doodles and I have coloured her with Kuretake Zig Art & Colour pens and wink of stella on her top.

Both the blue and yellow papers are from Craftwork Cards collections and I added a length of ribbon, button, candi and sentiment.  I cut the blue paper in a wave shape using scallop edge scissors.

Hope you like it.  These will be available to buy on my website soon in packs of two at www.craftyboots.co.uk.  The sentiment sets and the sorbet scoop paper pack that the yellow paper comes in are also available to buy on the Crafty Boots shop site.

Gorjuss

I have been having so much fun with my stamps lately!  This stamp is from the Gorjuss girls range.  Not sure what it is about them but I think these girls are so cute!!

I assembled the card so that it looks like her swing is hanging from this frame which I cut with a Spellbinders die.

Everything on this card other than the image and flower are from Craftwork Cards.  I added a pink flower for a bit of contrast and a purple gem in the centre.

Hope you like! :)

Butterflies on acetate

I received a fantastic acetate easel card for my birthday and it inspired me to make one!

This is a thankyou card for my Nan who loves butterflies.  I wanted the acetate to have a background but still be able to see through it.  Letratac was a brilliant way to do this as the little glue dots show up on the acetate but I quite like the pattern they made - It also enabled me to stick it do the card!

The stamps are by Creative Expressions and I have coloured them with Cosmic Shimmer acrylic drawing ink, promarkers and metallic markers.  You can't see in the photos but most of the butterflies are all shimmery because of the cosmic shimmer and metallic markers.

The butterfly shape on the base I cut using a die and then added a 'Thankyou' sentiment with a loop of ribbon underneath it to one side.  On the other side I added 3 pins, 2 crystals and two flowers with a doodle dewdrop centre.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and think my Nan will love it too!!

I am entering this card in Polka Doodles Safmat and Letratac challenge.

Mikala Ann

Here is my card for The Cutting Cafe this week.  I have used Mikala Ann from the ELISHA JEAN AND FRIENDS...WITH A BIG HEART...PRINTABLE STAMPS from The Cutting Cafe.  The sentiment "Always in my heart" is also from this set.

I coloured Mikala Ann with Promarkers and Wink of Stella pens.  I then cut out the heart that she is holding and instead covered this in gold leaf.  I've not used gold leaf before but I love it so definitely won't be long before you see me use it again!!

I then took a piece of pink/purple pearlescent card and stamped onto it three heart using two heart stamps from Creative Expressions.  I then painted in the flourishes with Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Drawing Ink.

I added a rhinestone flourish to the corner of the card and printed the sentiment onto Safmat to stick it to the card.  Finally I added a heart shaped pearl and mounted the pink/purple card onto gold gemstones card.

I am entering this card into Polka Doodles 'Safmat & Letratac' challenge

Hope you like it.
