Crafty Boots Challenge - Yellow!

The theme this fortnight at Crafty Boots Challenges has been set by Faye and is YELLOW!  Yellow is my favourite colour but I never realised how little yellow I had in my stash!!!

I used a Magnolia Tilda stamp for this challenge and coloured her with Copics, I did have a bit of pink for her clothes and used glossy accents over the yellow of her balloon to make it super shiny.

I cut Tilda out with a grand nestability and used the next size up to cut a matching mat in yellow.  To this second mat I added some gold/yellow candi with a name stamped on using Candi stamps.

I used polka dot yellow paper and ribbon for my background and also some yellow flowers and a birthday sentiment!

Hope you will join us at Crafty Boots Challenges with some yellow projects!!

First play with Art Parts

I just found this I totally forgot to blog it!

I made this heart frame for a friend's new baby Sienna.

I used the heart art parts and distress stains in worn lipstick and dusty concord.   I also spritzed gold perfect pearls over the top.

I cut the letters using the Tim Holtz Vintage Market die and stuck pearls above and below the name.

I cut the Tim Holtz tattered florals die from 'Clearly for Art' and inked it with pink, purple, gold and pearl alcohol inks.

Finally..... I added a button from the Accoutrements Fanciful set to the centre of the flower.

I punched holes with my crop-a-dile and used ribbon from my stash.

Spunky Sprite

I coloured up this image for the Created from Color Copic calss that I am taking so thought I would make this little fairy up into a card.

The digi stamp is from Some Odd Girl and has been coloured with Copics and some wink of stella on the wings.

I cut a scalloped circle out of the pink 'Confetti' paper from Crafty Boots and sat her on there.  The backing paper is from Sarah Hurley.

I put some tissue tape along the bottom of the backing paper and then added some little pink bows to one side of the scalloped circle and some butterflies cut with Stampin Up embosslits Beautiful Wings to the other side.

I am entering this card into the Some Odd Girl colour challenge.

Bumping!!

Today I went to another of Gabrielle's Crafty Thoughts classes.  As always it was great fun!

This month we were making a journal using acrylic paints and masks.  I didn't quite finish mine and managed to make some nasty splodges on the front cover of mine so when I came home I finished the middle pages and tried to fix the cover! I'm really pleased with how it came out.

The cover had one pink line along by the 'n' where I had gone over the edge of the mask, in the class I tried making a matching line on the left - still looked awful, put another one down the middle and was then really disappointed as I loved the dots but now had 3 massive stripes down it!!!  When I got home I used some gems to cover up the stripes and I actually really like it!!

I also added flat backed pearls down the edges as it looked like it was missing something.  I also added some sparkle medium to the letters to make them 'pop' a bit more as they were blending in a bit...

Second page:

Third page - I *love* this star mask!

Fourth page - I did this one when I got home...

Fifth page - I also did this one when I got home and made a RIGHT mess with it :(

Back cover - I did this at the class and I was pleased with this.  I love this mask too and used some Wendy Vecchi stamps too.

Close up of the charms we used...

I had a great day and can't wait for next month when we're going to be altering books!

Happy Birthday Gabrielle!

Today is the lovely Gabrielle's birthday (she's offering some birthday blog candy so head on over to her blog for a chance to win that!) and this is the card I made for her.

I couldn't wait to play with the new Pan Pastels from Crafty Boots.   I LOVE the blues, particularly Ultramarine Blue so I used that colour to create the 'sky' background for this card.  I stamped a spotty background stamp from The Artistic Stamper in embossing ink and then applied the pastel over the top.  I was really pleased with the patchy effect I got which is when I decided it looked like a sky!!!

What better stamp to use for a sky then than my new Lili of the Valley stamp this teddy in his hot air balloon.  I didn't really want to add much else but stamped a Stampin Up happy birthday stamp from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set, punched it out with a circle punch and coloured over it using the Orange PanPastel (like the sun you see??).

Finally... I could not resist using my new candi stamps again (these may feature a lot in the next few cards!!!).  In my head using icing sugar candi would make it look like clouds, which it didn't, but I still like it so spelt Gabrielle's name.  I love how easy it is to personalise a card by stamping on card candi!

I hope Gabrielle had a good birthday, thanks to her lessons in using PanPastels I really enjoyed making her card!! :)

Crafty Boots Challenge - No girls allowed

The theme at Crafty Boots Challenges this month is 'No girls allowed' so no images of girls are allowed!  This is not easy for me but luckily I went to Ally Pally at the weekend and had some fabby new stamps to play with!!!

I got some new tiny alphabet stamps for stamping on Card Candi.

I made this card entirely from candi - no papers at all, and most importantly no images of girls!

There are a number of varieties of Card Candi sold at Crafty Boots.

Happy Birthday Mum

Today was my Mum's birthday and we had a lovely lunch to celebrate.  This is the card I made her.

I used the confetti paper pack from Crafty Books and piece of purple paper which I punched using a Martha Stewart edger punch.

I used a scalloped doily, also from Crafty Boots, and added card candi around the edge which I stamped to say 'Mum' all the way round.  I also stamped to say Happy Birthday and added these candies to the bottom of the card.

The image I used is Cupcake Mae from Some Odd Girls.  I coloured her with copics and put some glossy accents on the cherry in her hair to make it shine!

Wishes

OK so I realise that my photos are suddenly all really dark :(  not sure what's wrong with my phone camera but this was the best I could do... I will have to get the proper camera out in future I think until I get a new one!

My Mum needed a card for a 21st birthday and this is what I came up with.

The card blank is a large elegant square card blank from Crafty Boots.

I stamped the birthday sentiment which is from a Stampin Up stamp set straight onto the card balnk.

I added a square of metallic turquoise card with a pink patterned paper diagonal to it on top.  I used crystal stickers to add a '21' to the turquoise.

Under the doily is a strip of 'Rich Razzleberry' card from Stampin Up which I stuck some pink/purpley metallic ribbon to before putting through a Martha Stewart edger punch.

The scalloped doily is from Crafty Boots and I glued flat backed pearls around the edge (and one gem as there was an odd number of scallops!!)

The image is 'Wishes' from Some Odd Girl and I coloured her with Copics and wink of Stella on her wings for a bit of sparkle.

Here's a photo before I cut her out to show the Wink of Stella:

Head in the Clouds Kaylee

I made this card for my sister who is pregnant.

I made the background by swiping an embossing pad some paper through a Crafters Workshop template from Crafty Boots.  I then used clear embossing powder on the circle pattern.

After heating I used a brayer and a big and juicy ink pad to create what was meant to be a sort of sunset effect.

The image is Head in the Clouds Kaylee from Some Odd Girl and I coloured her with copics, tumbled glass distress ink on the cloud and cosmic shimmer on her wings.

Kaylee didn't look quite right straight on to the background so I used this cloud patterned paper by My Minds Eye - also from Crafty Boots, although I'm still not 100% happy with it.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment which is a Tim Holtz stamp in purple, punched it out with a scalloped circle punch and then used Spun Sugar distress ink for the pink colour.

Some Odd Girl colour inspiration challenge

I am still loving the Some Odd Girl stamps and had already coloured this gorgeous 'Spunky Sprite' when I saw their latest colour inspiration challenge:

I'd already coloured my little fairy in with pink and turquoise so decided to use her to make a card to enter this challenge.

I struggled to find anything brown... it turns out in the tonnes and tonnes of paper I have I do not have anything brown but I found a way around this.  I started with a piece of kraft card for the lighter brown colour in the challenge and then used a template and some vintage photo distress ink to get the pattern and darker brown colour around the edges.

I wanted a bit more pink and turquoise so got some acrylic balls in those colours and stuck them around the edge of the image shape which I cut out with a grand nestability.

I also used some diamante corner stickers and some letters and numbers as I was so pleased with this little Sprite that I decided to use her for my sister's 30th birthday card.

I coloured the little fairy with copics and also some wink of stella on her wings although you can't see the sparkle very well in the photos :(

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Boots Challenge - Nautical

The theme at Crafty Boots Challenges this week is Nautical.  I chose to interpret this as nautical colours as I didn't have any nautical type stamps!!

I was inspired by a tag made by Freya and so decided to try the same technique she used.

I used a flower stamp and embossed it in clear embossing powder on a Elegant Square card blank from Crafty Boots.  Then I covered the card with Tumbled Glass distress ink.  I then coloured the centres of the flowers with fired brick and put red pearls in the very middle of them.

The image is one of the new fairy digi stamps from Some Odd Girl and I coloured her with copics.   I also used a clear wink of stella pen on her wings so they are all sparkly but I couldn't quite capture that in the photos!

Finally I added a flower from Crafty Boots, and some stampin up ribbon which started white but I coloured it using Fired Brick distress ink.

Chunky ATC

On Saturday I went to a craft class run by the fabulous Gabrielle and this is what we made!  I had such a wonderful day and really enjoyed making this.  I also came away with a HUGE wish list of stamps and inks and stains and all sorts!!!

I can't wait for next months class and more inky fun!  Check out her website www.craftythoughts.com for more details of the classes especially if you're going to be in or around the Milton Keynes area on April 28th!!
